Frequently Asked Questions
What can I expect regarding surgery timing and anesthesia?
Once you have medical and insurance clearance, we can usually schedule your procedure within one to two weeks. During a consultation, Dr. Hilliard and your anesthesiologist will help you choose the best sedation option—ranging from local numbing to deep sleep—to ensure your absolute comfort.
How does Dr. Hilliard handle carpal tunnel and office procedures?
Dr. Hilliard is highly skilled in both minimally invasive endoscopic and open carpal tunnel techniques. For your convenience, he can perform many minor procedures right here in our office using local anesthesia, though more complex cases are safely transitioned to our partner outpatient surgical centers.
When can I return to work and what areas do you specialize in?
Most patients return to work quickly, though we will create a custom recovery timeline based on your specific job and procedure. Please note we focus exclusively on the hand, wrist, and elbow to provide the highest quality specialized care; we do not treat shoulder injuries to maintain this expert focus.
Do you accept worker’s compensation and standard insurance?
Yes, we are here to help. We are in-network with most major providers including Medicare and Tricare. Our team is also deeply familiar with worker’s compensation laws and requirements, ensuring a smooth process for those injured on the job. Please contact us to verify your specific coverage details.
